Hi Everyone, What a super time the children have had during this topic. They have learnt lots about Christmas. In the Creative room they have been acting out the story of the Elves and the Shoemaker and learning about the ‘Christmas story’. The role-play area which was the Shoemaker’s shop has been a key attraction for the children. They have designed and made a model of the present they would like from Santa and have also learnt about how wellingtons are made and designed their own pair and drew them in their topic books. In the Numeracy room they have been naming and describing 2D and 3D shapes as well as estimating and counting different numbers of Christmas objects. The children have enjoyed listening to many stories relating to Christmas such as ‘The Jolly Postman’ and ‘Shhh”. In their writing they have learnt about writing speech bubbles and invitations as well as practising letter formation in their books. In the Art room the children have made Christmas masks, wreaths, paper chains, lolly-pop Santas and many more exciting things. As well as snow buggy races and building sleighs using wood, the children have also been showing off their physical skills when doing Santa’s assault course. The last two weeks have been extremely busy practising for the Nativities, but I am sure that you will agree that the children did a wonderful job. A big ‘thank you’ for your help and support. Last of all the children finished off this topic with a fabulous visit to the Pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk. We hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas.
