Home Learning Activity 4- 02.04.20

Hello Year 3!

Wow! We loved your zoo designs yesterday! They were absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing them with us. If you haven’t yet, don’t worry- there is still plenty of time!

Don’t forget, we will be choosing one person from each class to share an example of their home learning each Friday. Keep sending in examples; it could be you this week!

Today’s activity: Making Maths Dominoes!

You will need:
– Cut 16 rectangles out of paper, like the ones attached (or if you have a printer, print the templates).
-Write 16 arithmetic questions with answers. Check your answers are accurate!
– Write the questions on the right hand side of the dominoes (in one colour).
-Write the answers on the left hand side of the dominoes (in a different colour).
-You cannot have the same answer twice.

Ideas for your own questions:

– Times tables
-Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers
-Missing number problems
-Fractions of amounts eg, 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 2/5, 2/3
-Adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator

We have written an example set of arithmetic dominoes for you to use as inspiration. You can answer these as an additional task, but for today’s task, we’d like you to make your own.

Once you have written your own dominoes cards, mix them all up and see if you can challenge your family members to play the game. Explain how you would answer each question and model showing your working out. Try and make your questions challenging!

Click on the links below to upload the example set of dominoes along with the blank template. Remember, you can make the cards yourself using paper if you don’t have a printer.
