BBC and Anchorsholme Academy’s 500 words Competition!

Happy Half-Term everyone!

This week, you have all been given the opportunity to be creative with your writing. In class, you have started to plan and write your own 500 word story. This story can be about absolutely anything, so be as creative as you like!

We would love for you to continue writing these stories and enter them into the BBC’s 500 words competition. How amazing would it be if it was YOU who won!? We have amazing writer’s within our school and every one of you has a fantastic chance of being this year’s winner! So put pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard) and let your imagination run wild!

You can submit your story at home with your family. To enter the competition, follow this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/59TwKqqLp3LTpRVfPlsKtx9/submit-a-story

Alternatively, if you are unable to submit your story from home, bring it in to school, where I will help you submit your masterpiece to the website. If you are able to type your story and bring it in via USB or by email- even better! These stories must be brought back to school by Tuesday 25th February to allow us time to submit them to the website.

The submission deadline on the BBC website is Thursday 27th February at 8pm.

The competition doesn’t end there!!!

As well as the BBC 500 word competition, we are holding our very own whole school Anchorsholme 500 word competition!! Continue writing the stories you have begun this week with your teacher, and return them to school by Friday 28th February to be entered into our school competition. These stories will be judged by your class teacher, who will select a class winner.  Mr Dow will then have the exciting job of reading the class winners and will decide on a Year group winner!

Enjoy the holidays, and we look forward to reading your stories soon!

Miss Chalk 🙂
