This half term, Classes 10 and 12 have been studying dances from other cultures. So far, they have been focusing on the Maori dance the Haka. Traditionally used by the Maori people as a way of celebrating their tribe’s strength and unity, this dance can be used as a form of celebration, or as a way of preparing for battle. The children have had the chance to watch and discuss some performances of the Haka, and have learnt some basic steps, and have begun to choreograph their own dances. Their performances so far have been a great show of their engagement and creativity.
