Artificial Intelligence in Year 5

Our Year 5 students have enjoyed learning about the processes behind artificial intelligence and machine learning.  They’ve been exploring how AI can be used in an ethical way to address world problems by simulating how a robot could be ‘trained’ to make decisions for itself and clean up the oceans.

In particular it has been very exciting for them to take part in providing data for a real life AI project where hundreds of hidden cameras have been placed across southern Africa, capturing millions of images of beautiful and rare animals.  Our students studied numerous images taken by these cameras to identify if animals were present.  The data they fed back to project will help protect the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra.
