Foundation Christmas.

Hello Everyone.  What a super time the children have had during the Christmas topic.  In the Creative room they acted out the story of the ‘Elves and the Shoemaker’ and learnt about the ‘Christmas story’.  The role-play Shoemaker’s shop was a key attraction for the children – measuring their feet, and buying and selling shoes.  They also learnt about how wellingtons are made and looked at different designs of them.  They then designed their own pair and drew them in their topic books.  In the Numeracy room they named and described 2d and 3d shapes and estimated and then counted out different numbers of Christmas objects.  The children enjoyed listening to many stories relating to Christmas such as ‘The Jolly Postman’ and ‘Shhh’.  In their writing they  learnt about writing their letters to Santa,  invitations for their own Christmas party  as well as practising letter formation in their books.  In the Art room the children made Christmas trees, party hats, Christmas cards, decorations and many more exciting things.  In the outside area, as well as snow buggy races and building sleighs using wood, the children have also shown off their physical skills when doing Santa’s assault course. The children did really well with their Nativities.  We were very proud of them, and are sure that you will agree that they did a wonderful job.  A big ‘thank you’ for your help and support with them.  On Tuesday,  the children really enjoyed their trip to the ‘Tower Circus’ to see the pantomime (Pinocchio) and the children have been writing about that they liked about it.  It was a lovely way for pupils and staff to spend some time together.  Finally,  we all enjoyed the Christmas party. We played lots of fun games and enjoyed party food before our    special visitor arrived! We hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Miss Egan
