Why train with us?
Blackpool is a special but challenging place to teach. Our vision is to train the next generation of outstanding Blackpool teachers to give the children of Blackpool the best possible start in life.
Our training will be delivered in partnership with the University of Cumbria.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has a passion for teaching, someone who enjoys a challenge and who puts children and their needs first.
Entry Requirements
Graduates should have a minimum 2:2 degree but preferably a 2:1 or higher.
Programme
The PGCE module element of the programme at level 7 will be delivered by the University of Cumbria within an alliance school based in Blackpool. The alliance will offer all trainees the opportunity to access high quality school based training in addition to the 3 assessed placements. Opportunities for trainees to work or study collaboratively will be a focus of our training programme. Trainees who accept an offer to undertake their training with the MAT will be given the opportunity to spend time in school before the programme starts in September 2017.
A unique feature of our programme is the opportunity to undertake an assessed placement and/or an experiential placement in a special school setting.
Placements
There are 3 formal assessed placements as part of the programme. A four weeks assessed placement in November/December, a 5 week placement in the spring term and a 10 week placement in the summer term. You will be required to teach in 2 different age phases (KS1/KS2) and in a minimum of 2 different school settings.
Student Facilities
Our trainees will be provided with the highest quality of training and school based experiences. As this is a School Direct Programme, additional student facilities e.g. library access, will be provided by The University of Cumbria.
Study Facilities
Each school within the alliance has facilities available to undertake reflective study. Additional study materials and access will be provided by the University of Cumbria.
