Our hypothesis
“Can the effective use of play and games in all aspects of learning, within a number of institutes across, Europe motivate and stimulate learners to recognise and achieve their full learning potential?”
Our objectives are:-
- To strengthen European partnership through developing cultural awareness and celebrating our similarities and our individual qualities.
- To develop a broader knowledge and understanding of modern foreign languages from across Europe.
- Provide children with a firm foundation of core life skills and competencies, including; tolerance, empathy, the ability to share, etc. in order to prepare them for an effective future within a European community.
- To strengthen the motivation for learning for everyone within our school communities
- To enhance the range of teaching strategies and creative learning opportunities available within all of our classrooms
- To ensure that play becomes an integral part of every aspect of our children’s learning.
- To offer children a realistic alternative to play which is dependant on “games consoles”
- To build firm foundations upon which children can maintain a lifelong healthy lifestyle.
We will be addressing:-
- The challenges presented by conflict and non participation during outdoor play sessions
- How play can be used effectively throughout the taught curriculum
- Raising the awareness within the wider school community about the importance of play in learning.
- Raise the awareness with children and their families about the value of play in sustaining a healthy lifestyle.
The approach we will take to achieve our objectives will be:-
- Through mobilities each partnership institution will broaden the cultural awareness and experiences of both staff and pupils
- Each partnership institution will expand communication opportunities both within our school communities and across the whole European partnership
- The school curriculum within all partnership schools will be enhanced to guarantee a quality and consistent European dimension to learning.
- Each partnership institution will directly and/or indirectly engage all staff, pupils, families and the wider school community in the planned activities for this project.
- Through our planned activities each partnership institution will maximise the opportunities to develop language skills in a range of European languages.
- Each partnership institution will use creative and innovative teaching and learning styles to enrich the learning activities
- Each partnership institution will maximise the learning and communication opportunities generated by all aspects of modern technology including ICT, multi media, mobile learning technologies and the World Wide Web.
- Through mobilities and shared activities all staff will have access to a range of opportunities to develop and enhance their skills as classroom practitioners.

Teaching Sports at Gläntanskolan in Ödåkra

A fundamental objective of Physical Education is to create opportunities for everyone to participate in various activities on their own terms, develop community and interpersonal skills and an understanding and respect for others.

To develop comprehensive operating activities is central to the subject and an overall movement repertoire can lay the foundation for an active and healthy lifestyle.

A positive experience of movement and rhythm is the basis for individual and collective exercises and thereby promote both improvisational and artistic and motor skills. This provides opportunities to develop thinking and feeling, movement and sport skills and training fitness, strength and mobility

Games have a significant role in Physical Education for the early school years. It is important to introduce the children to the subject in an inspiring way that attracts the students to the physical activity. Everybody should be able to participate and feel comfortable in the game, regardless their motor skills. Even students who are shy and cautious should feel safe in the playtime together. Children will enjoy physical education if they can achieve everything which is asked of them. Therefore we play games in the early sports education.

Kom hem alla min kycklingar

Under hökens vingar, Farmer, Farmer can we cross your green field?

Skeppsbrott,

Different kind of tag-games and different song and dance games

In those games children also learn to cooperate with other children and to appreciate the joy of the community.  Many games have an element of competition that may engage the children to play. But some children may also be inhibited by the competition and choose not to participate. You have to take this into consideration when deciding what games to play and focus much on creating a climate in the group as one of respect. Child's first encounter with sports should not contain an element of competition, but be characterized by cooperation and respect for each other. Older children usually like games where you compete in teams.

Gradually,  Physical  Education focus more on the development of the student’s motor skills. His ability to walk, run, jump, roll, crawl, balance, climb, throw and catch.  When you practice these skills you have to do it in an entertaining way, and in exercises on a moderately difficult level.  Children need to feel comfortable, safe and to be able to make mistakes when developing skills.

Through Physical Education, children also develop their body image and perception of space. To have a good body image enhances self-confidence which in turn makes the student willing to take on new challenges.

 teaching-sports7

Games and sports also teach children strategic thinking and to follow the rules of the game. When children have become familiar with the rules of the game, they can also try their hand at leading activities. To be trained in leadership is an important experience that may be useful in the future life.

Teaching Music at Gläntanskolan in Ödåkra

Teaching Music at Gläntanskolan in Ödåkra

In the early school years, Music education is integrated in the daily activities. Every morning begins with song in the morning assembly. We sing the names of the present children, we sing about the weekdays, the months and the weather.

Jag säger god morgon till dig

Tänk vad roligt att ….är här idag.

Januari börjar året…

Rhymes and singing games are common features of everyday life.

The students sing songs that are connected to the topics we are working with or something we have seen or experienced.

Lilla snigel akta dig.

En bonde I vår by

Här kommer Pippi Långstrump

We are clapping rhythms to rhyme and music. One person clap a rhythm and the rest will clap the rhythm as an echo.
Students are trained to listen for the music's pulse and feel it and then move to the music.

We play musical chairs and dancing stop!

We play different musical games and try out the old traditional dances.

Törnrosa

Bro, bro breja

Fattigmannen kommer linkande

När vi reste till Landskrona

Så går vi runt kring ett enebärssnår.

Students use rhythm instruments and play music. We manufacture our own instruments for instance  maraccas.

The teacher shows the musical notes on the overhead projector and students are trained to listen and play with their rhythm instruments in the right moment. The older students will learn about note value by playing the notes, students learn various beat such as 3 / 4 pace.

It is important that students learn about many different styles of music so we listen to, sing and play different music.

Pop, rock, ballads, classical music and folk music from our native countries.

In Music education the students learn about different musical instruments and what they sound. In the late school years the students are trained in playing instruments like guitar, piano and drums.

Music gives us different associations. Students may listen to music and tell what thoughts and feelings the music bring forth. They can also choose from a selection of adjectives and say which adjective they feel is appropriate to the music.

Music gives us images and therefore the students are given the opportunity to paint to music.

Relaxation and massage to the accompaniment of music are also popular activities in our work.

We also teach some of the known composers and artists and their works.

Beethoven, Mozart, ABBA, Ted Gärdestad  and others.

The singing education includes unanimous song, part-singing and singing in canon.

Vår tupp är död.

Row, row, row  your boat.

Alla fåglar kommit ren.
